For a More Stimulating Environment
The right pieces of art can transform your living or working environment from functional to inspirational space. Although I enjoy all types of art, the art you can buy at the Goldesberry Gallery in Houston is very companionable. By that I mean that it's exciting without being too challenging or disruptive. (In a recent museum tour, my kids and I saw some terrific art that was aggressive and occasionally downright hostile--not my type of roommate.)
Established in 1991 by Nancy and Oliver Goldesberry to provide a showcase for fine craft in Houston, Goldesberry Gallery has expanded and grown to become one of the city's major galleries and remains the city's only commercial source for nationally recognized fine art craft.
The gallery currently represents both regional and national artists working in ceramics, glass, wood, fiber and metal including jewelry, as well as painting, collage and mixed media.
Our family recently purchased a work from the Goldesberry Gallery by John Garrett. We don't have a photo of the one we purchased, but I've borrowed a couple of images of his work from the Goldesberry Gallery web site. Our piece is looks like a wall drapery of loosely woven chains. John Garrett has been treating wire and other pieces of metal and plastic as if they were yarn, thread, buttons and beading. The work feels industrial and jewel-like at the same time.
